Threat Hunting using Open Source Tools

This hands-on course addresses all the stages involved in the Threat Hunting and Intelligence Gathering landscape. Our course focuses on teaching professionals how to identify and counteract risks to the business by finding threats and mitigating them. It is a comprehensive, hands-on course that teaches a detailed approach for building an effective threat hunting program within an organization which is professional, systematic and repeatable. This course is for anyone currently in a role as a cybersecurity engineer, test engineer, systems engineer or software engineer who is looking to sharpen their skill-set arsenal.

This workshop is also great for someone starting out in cyber security as it will increase employability by learning industry tools and techniques used in the Cyber Threat Hunting and Intelligence Gathering industry.

Ms. Rita Edwards is an instructor with CyberProtex and has over 30 years of experience in the field of software engineering and security. Her duties have involved the entire software lifecycle including defining of requirements, coding, and quality assurance to ensure compliance between the final product and the specified system requirements. In addition, Ms. Edwards has experience in the related documentation of software programs. This documentation includes audit trails, testing, change management, configuration management, and deliverable items. The field of computer security is a volatile environment with new risks and threats evolving daily. Ms. Edwards earned her Bachelor of Science with a Math Minor in 1988, a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 1990, and her Master’s in Cyber Security in 2017. Continuous education is a key cornerstone in combating the bad guys. In addition to attending multiple workshops and conferences, Ms. Edwards holds the following active certifications: Security Plus, ITIL, and Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification. Ms. Edwards has served in a variety of positions including information assurance officer, information system security officer, system administrator, requirements compliance officer, software engineer, and verification and validation analyst. She has experience working with several standards including DOD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP), DIACAP migration to Risk Management Framework, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Her current tasking is with NASA’s CIO is focused on NIST compliance, vulnerability management, and incident response.
