“Vinny” Lamolinara transferred to the Defense Acquisition University, Mid-Atlantic Region, in Feb 2017 to the Foundational Learning Directorate for Cybersecurity. Prior to this, he was the founding Chief Engineer for the Naval Aviation Systems Command (NAVAIR) Cyber Warfare Detachment, where he developed a NAVAIR Cyber Workforce Development (WFD) strategy, curriculum and execution plan germane to naval aviation systems through collaboration with industry, academia, university and federally-funded research & development (R&D) centers, external agencies and services. The cyber WFD effort trained engineers, testers and logisticians resulting in 6000+ personnel at the “Awareness” level, 600+ technical personnel at the “Smart” level able to influence design and test, and 50+ people at the “Expert” level able to design and test weapons systems cybersecurity measures. He created R&D efforts that built laboratory infrastructure and delivered operational cyber solutions. He served in the U.S. Navy as the J8 Requirements Director in JFCC Network Warfare and was part of the standup of USCYBERCOM where he built, acquired and tested cyber capabilities. CAPT “Vinny” was an acquisition professional at NAVAIR as the Military Director for Avionics and Air Vehicle Engineering, and served in PMA 299 Multi-Mission Helicopters as the Director of Test. He was an experimental test pilot at the Rotary Wing Test Directorate, instructor at the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School and operational commander the of HS-5 “Nightdippers”, flying H-60 helicopter anti-ship, anti-submarine, special warfare and combat search and rescue missions.
